What we collect

When you use the forms on this site, we collect what you submit: an email address for subscribe and unsubscribe requests, and a message (plus an email address, if you choose to include one) for feedback. Form submissions are collected through Netlify Forms. The morning distribution list is kept in a Google Sheet.

How it is used

We use this information to manage subscriptions to the morning report and to read and act on feedback. Subscribing through the form is a request, not immediate activation: new subscriptions go on a pending list and are never emailed until the full subscription system deploys. Unsubscribe requests are processed by hand.

How long we keep it

We keep information for one year, then destroy it: Netlify form submissions, rows for unsubscribed addresses, unactivated pending rows, and feedback messages are destroyed one year after their date — the submission date, the unsubscribe date, or the date feedback was received. Rows for active subscribers are kept while the subscription is active, because deleting them would unsubscribe you. When a row becomes inactive, the unsubscribe date is recorded so the one-year period can be measured. The oldest records here date from October 2026, so nothing qualifies for destruction until late 2027.

Analytics

This site uses Netlify Web Analytics and Netlify Real User Monitoring (RUM), which measures page-load performance. Both are kept active. On the current Netlify Pro plan, web analytics and RUM data are retained for 30 days, so that data ages out automatically well inside the one-year rule above.
